Thoughts on Obama and the New Age
There’s a new day coming
As Obama said in his acceptance speech, it’s not just about him. He is right. I was glad that he had the insight to see that.
Obama is the personification of something new and exciting going on in this country, and this world. There is a new way of looking at things: a new movement that has been gathering momentum for a while now. It is manifesting itself in numerous ways.
People are “going green”. They have finally realized that Gaia, Mother Earth is dying. They are rejecting the fundamentalist notions of a single punishing God and returning to the older earth-centered religions, where the Universe is loving, giving and full of abundance. They are coming together in circles, as our ancestors did, to find solutions, and rejecting the outmoded hierarchy model. More and more people are looking for mission-based jobs that are creative, earth-friendly and help human kind. Look where greed-centered capitalist thinking has gotten us. We are getting back into balance. We have finally entered The New Age.
Part of that proof is Obama’s election Black people were not the only ones to place Obama in office. Whites made up more than half of the deciding vote. Don’t be angry at this. This is more proof of the shift out of antiquated thinking on their part. It will take progressives of all races to bring certain changes about.
We still have a fight on our hands. Every day we have to battle the petty systemic racism that follows us from the day we are born. Just because we finally have a non-White president; doesn’t mean that the NAACP, The Anti Defamation League and the BLA should close their doors. No way.
As for the vast numbers of poor and minority people not voting; we are still at a disadvantage. Many still live in states where one conviction means one can NEVER vote again. This law needs to be changed. Everyone should vote. Many people who could vote didn’t know they could. More information needs to get out. Of course the right wing got ugly at the end because they got scared. They tried to block and disqualify as many poor and minority votes as they could. This is why it was so important that all races helped to vote Obama in.
Obama said one thing that was not correct. He said something like there is no Black America and no White America, there is just America. He is wrong. He knows better. He had to say that to try and unite us all.
He redeemed himself a little in his acceptance speech when he spoke about growing up Black in this country.
Anyway, we are witness to a new renaissance. It’s about time.
